1. **Proposal Submission**
- Any Member may propose an amendment or update to the Constitution.
- The proposal must include:
1. The **tension** it seeks to address.
2. The **proposed change** in clear, specific language.
- Proposals are submitted in writing to the designated **Governance Forum** (e.g. Notion, Loomio, shared doc, email list, or a governance channel such as Slack/Discord).

2. **Announcement & Circulation**
- The proposal is announced to all Members via the **general channel**.
- The written version must remain accessible for all Members to review.

3. **Feedback & Objections**
- Members may:
- Request clarifications
- Express reactions or support
- Raise **blocking objections**
- Valid objections must include:
1. A clear reason the proposal is believed to be harmful or “not safe enough to try.”
2. An explicit signal such as:
- A “thumbs down” emoji
- The word **“objection”**
- A **“-1”** notation
- Members may also abstain from participating.

4. **Review Period**
- The review period lasts a minimum of **2 days**.
- A proposal may be adopted if:
- It has been visible to those significantly affected.
- No valid objections remain unresolved at the end of the review period.
- Any **facilitator** may declare the proposal adopted once these conditions are met.

5. **Escalation to Meeting**
- Any Member may request that a proposal be discussed at the next **governance meeting**.
- The **proposer** or a **facilitator** may also require breakout discussion before adoption.

6. **Adoption & Record**
- Once adopted, the updated Constitution is recorded in the Labs Github repository.
- This step is undertaken by the [[Labs Manager Council]] on behalf of membership.
- A change log of amendments is maintained for transparency.
