This protocol ensures that all intellectual property generated within the network aligns with the [[Purpose]] and [[Values]] of OpenCivics Labs, promoting openness and reuse.
1. Open
- A brand usage request that does not yet have a determination
2. **Default Licensing**
- By default, all work produced by [[Labs Member]]s and [[Labs Participant]]s for the DAO or its projects ([[Core IP]] and [[Labs Project IP]]) is licensed under a permissive open-source license (Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International - CC BY-SA 4.0).
3. **Exception Request**
- If a project requires a different license (e.g., for commercial partnerships or to use a specific software dependency), the [[Labs Coordinator]] or a [[Labs Member]] can submit an exception request to the [[Labs Manager]]s. The request must include a strong justification.
4. **Manager Review**
- The [[Labs Manager]]s review the exception request. Approval requires a consensus and is granted only when there is a clear strategic reason that serves the DAO's mission.
5. **Closed**
- A brand usage request that has a determination.
